After the success of Stretch Armstrong in 1977, Kenner followed up with Stretch Monster, an enemy for our elastic hero. This may be the case where I like the villain figure more than the hero as Stretch Monster embodies almost everything I like about the 1970s, part Incredible Hulk, Part Sleestak, Stretch Monster has got it going on.

Muppet John sent in some toy love with this classic shot of his mom grappling with his Stretch Monster on what looks like Christmas morn. Stretch Monster should know better than to mess with Mom, no toy can defeat her!

Toy industry news about Stretch Monster.
Kenner Stretch Monster
I want to point out that these instructions are stained in corn syrup, this particular Stretch Monster met a grim end.
Kenner really tried to cover their butts with this, it's four pages of "Hey this thing is gonna break if you keep doing that"
I totally bit my Stretch Armstrong in '77, the temptation was simply too much. I've been addicted to corn syrup ever since....
Italian Stretch Monster
In Italy, Stretch Armstrong was dubbed "Mister Musclo" (guess what that means) by their distributor Harbert and Monster became "Mister Monstro".
Other than the name change, very little is different from the two.
There was a small find of these in the 1990s, for a while it was easier to find a stretch monster.
Japanese Stretch Monster
The Japanese company Tsukuda did a total facelift on Stretch Monster and made him an alien. Which is strange considering how much the Japanese like their reptiles.
From what I understand the name translates to "Stretch Andro".
The head sculpt resembles the "Keeper from the Purple Twilight" alien from "The Outer Limits".
