Mattel like a lot of toy companies, tried hard to get in on the growing hand held games department, this actually killed quite a few toy makers a couple of years later. Mattel actually produced a few of the more popular and memorable games. 
The Flash Gordon game is actually a recycled version of the Battle Star Galactica "Space Alert" game, my pick for best handheld game ever. I'm not sure the Flash Gordon version got released. The Space ships in this line were inflatable, which is kind of strange. It must have been an attempt to make a lower cost larger vehicle for the series.
