Even though Crystar toys hit shelves before the comic, the whole thing was Marvel's baby. Marvel peddled the idea to toy companies and Remco already had a great relationship thanks to items like Energized Spider-Man, so they were a great candidate. It didn't hurt that their biggest competitor Mego had just gone bankrupt either. Crystar didn't set the world on fire but 1983 was a time of tremendous change in the toy industry as toylines now had accompanying cartoon shows, leaving those that did not in the dust.
