Battle Star Galactica Action Figures

1979 Battlestar Galactica electronic dolls

Mattel has always been a shrewd recycler of concepts, the reason these electronic dolls of colonial Warrior and Cylon are so off model is because they were actually based off the Captain Lazer doll from the 1968 Major Matt Mason line of toys. The Viper Launch station was also recycled from an aircraft carrier playset produced years earlier (Still a great, fitting toy)

1979 Battlestar Galactica Action Figures

Mattel did a terrific job with their 3 3/4" offerings adding nice detail and accessories. The second wave would feature bad guy Baltar, Alien Boray, a Gold Cylon Commander and Andorid Lucifer but oddly no Apollo, guess he looked too much like Starbuck to warrant a figure. Mattel would later recycle the Battlestar figure body to make the Mork figure.
